To those who have followed me, you may remember my story about a kidnapper, namely me. I have worried myself sick over the situation for three and one half years now. I was awarded temporary custody of three of my Grandchildren who have been with me since the oldest, now 14, was two. In these last three years I have been to court at least 50 times, no lie, but it has been put off until last July. A judge heard one day of testimony and somehow "forgot" about it until today June 14th, 2009 a day that for me will live on in my mind until I depart this mortal world. Today the Judge heard the rest of my testimony and made a ruling.
Yes! Today the Judge ruled in our favor and we were awarded permanent custody of the three awesome kids that have been with me for 12 years. I cannot begin to tell you how extremely happy I am and I want to shout it to the world.

Not often you hear of those who step up to the plate and do what's right. Kudos to you and yours for being a parent to your grandchildren and kudos to the judge who used common sense and wisdom to rule in your favor.

Wow!! I work in a family court and cannot imagine a ruling taking SOOO long... Congratulations on finally having legalized what you've been doing all these years. Sounds like they are very lucky children. You are an inspiration.
There I was thinking it had all been settled the last time, until I saw your comment over at our mutual friend, Relax Max. I'm so glad it's worked out the way it should. It was the right result, but you always have those lingering doubts until everything is signed and sealed..

Congrats! It'about damn time! What other choice was there?!?!? It's supposed to be in the best interest of the children. To NOT drag it out for 12 years & give you permanent custody 12 years ago, would have been in their best interest. At least it's finally finished & justice served!
